The Owl Nebula (Messier 97) is a planetary nebula in the constellation Ursa Major, about 2,600 light years from Earth. Its ring-shaped structure, reminiscent of an owl’s face, formed from the expelled outer layers of an ageing star.
The Surfboard Galaxy (Messier 108) is a spiral galaxy, also in Ursa Major, about 45 million light years away. Notable are not only its clear spiral structures but also a visible dust lane stretching across the galactic disc, offering insights into the distribution of matter.
