IC 1848, also known as the “Soul Nebula”, is an emission nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia. It lies about 7,500 light years from Earth. The nebula spans an area of roughly 100 light years and is part of a larger star-forming region known as the Cassiopeia OB6 complex. The glowing gas clouds and dust particles in IC 1848 are excited to glow by the energy of young, hot stars nearby.
