LDN 673 – dark cloud in Aquila
LDN 673 is a dense dark cloud in the constellation Aquila, about 500 light years away. It consists of cold gas and dust and blocks the light of the stars behind it, which is why it appears as a dark patch in visible light. The cloud belongs to a larger molecular cloud complex and shows signs of early star formation — with dense cores and filamentary structures typical of the cold birthplaces of new stars.
