PK 164+31.1

Jones-Emberson 1 is a planetary nebula in the constellation Lynx, about 1,600 light years away. With a size of 6 arcminutes and a brightness of about 17 mag, it consists of an expanding shell of ionised gas.

Its light comes mainly from doubly ionised oxygen (OIII), giving it a bluish-green hue. In addition, fainter hydrogen (Hα) emissions are visible, emphasising reddish structures within the nebula. At its centre lies a white dwarf that excites the gas to glow.
