NGC 2403 is a spiral galaxy about 8 million light years away in the constellation Camelopardalis. It belongs to the M81 galaxy group and shows pronounced spiral structures with many star-forming regions, including the large H-II region NGC 2404. With a diameter of about 50,000 light years it is smaller than the Milky Way, but similar to the Triangulum Galaxy (M33). Its high star-formation rate and the supernova SN 2004dj make it an important research object.
