Messier 106 is a spectacular spiral galaxy located about 23.5 million light years from Earth. The galaxy is notable for its prominent barred structure and numerous star-forming regions. Its active galactic nucleus is powered by a supermassive black hole with a mass of about 40 million solar masses.
