The Sun, our home star around 150 million kilometres away, shows its particularly active side in this H-alpha image from 29 May 2026. The special filter technique reveals details of the chromosphere — a dynamic layer above the solar surface. Clearly visible are delicate structures, extended filaments and impressive prominences, in which glowing plasma rises along the magnetic field lines far beyond the Sun’s edge into space. Every image reveals new and constantly changing phenomena of solar activity.
