Sun 25.05.2026

The Sun is the central star of our Solar System and, at a distance of around 150 million kilometres, our nearest home star. Using an H-alpha solar telescope, the so-called chromosphere becomes visible — an active outer layer of the Sun. This image impressively shows the dynamic structures of the solar surface, dark filaments and huge plasma eruptions (prominences) reaching far into space at the Sun’s edge.
