The Iris Nebula (NGC 7023) is a glowing blue reflection nebula in the constellation Cepheus, about 1,300 light years away. At its centre is the hot star HD 200775, whose light is scattered by fine dust particles, creating the characteristic blue shimmer. Around the bright core spread dark, cold dust clouds — part of the vast molecular complex Cepheus Flare, an active star-forming region.
